# Hiring manager tools

> Every tool the Paraform connector gives your AI assistant when you sign in as a hiring manager, and what each one reads.

The assistant picks a tool for each question, so you don't call tools by name.

Every tool is **read-only**. No tool creates, changes, or deletes data. Each tool reads only the roles and candidates you can see in the Paraform app.

## Roles and candidates

| Tool | What it reads |

| `listHmRoles` | The roles you can manage, with their status and a link to each role in Paraform. Company admins get all company roles. Other users get the roles they're approved for. |
| `listHmCandidates` | Candidates across your roles, 20 per page. Filter by role, candidate name, interview stage, or status. Without a status, it returns the active pipeline: submitted, interviewing, offer, and hired. Ask for rejected candidates by name or status. It can also return only the candidates that wait on your decision. |
| `getHmCandidate` | One candidate's submission: the recruiter's submission notes, screening answers, resume text, and location. For a rejected candidate, it returns the rejection message your company recorded. |
| `listHmCandidateInteractions` | One candidate's recorded interview stages, booking dates, and the scorecards you can see, with notes and ratings |

## How to read the results

* **Waiting on your decision** means a submission, or a scheduled interview whose end time passed, where you are the role's hiring manager. It doesn't prove that the interview took place.
* **A booking** shows when an interview was scheduled and its booking status. It doesn't prove that the interview took place.
* **No interview history** means Paraform has no recorded history that you can see. It doesn't mean that no interview took place.
* **Scores:** Paraform scorecards use a 1 to 4 overall score and 1 to 5 star attribute ratings. Scores from an ATS have no fixed scale.
* **Rejections** show only a message that your company recorded. The connector never fills in a reason from AI or recruiter feedback.

## Limits

* **Page size:** `listHmCandidates` returns 20 candidates per request. The assistant can ask for the next page.
* **Hidden candidates:** a candidate you can't see in the Paraform app returns "not found".
