# Your saved preferences

> Read the role preferences saved on your Paraform profile and use them to filter roles.

[`GET /recruiter/preferences`](/recruiter/api-reference/get-recruiter-preferences) (`roles:read`) returns the role preferences saved on your Paraform profile. These are the same values your in-app profile page shows.

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://external-api.paraform.com/api/external/v1/recruiter/preferences" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PARAFORM_API_KEY"
```

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `roleTypes`, `locations`, `industries`, `workplaceTypes`, `fundingRounds` | Your saved choices. An empty array means nothing is saved for that preference. |
| `minSalary` | Your saved annual salary floor as a whole number, or `null` if none is saved. No currency is stored with it. |
| `description` | Your own free-text description, or `null`. |

This endpoint returns your preferences. To change them, use the Paraform app.

## Use them to filter roles

Pass `matchMyPreferences=true` to [`GET /recruiter/roles`](/recruiter/guides/browse-roles) to fold your saved role types, locations, industries, funding rounds, and minimum salary into the search:

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://external-api.paraform.com/api/external/v1/recruiter/roles?matchMyPreferences=true" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PARAFORM_API_KEY"
```

* Within a field, your saved values are **added** to any values you send. Across fields, filters still combine with AND.
* The salary floor is the higher of your saved `minSalary` and any `minSalary` you send. It's compared to each role's salary band, so a matched role's band reaches your floor, not necessarily its minimum.
* A `maxSalary` below that floor is ignored.
* A preference with nothing saved adds no filter. To match only your preferences, send `matchMyPreferences=true` and nothing else.
